Creating space to enjoy your baby, bond and feel connected

At Zen Babies I teach Baby Massage, Reflexology and Yoga, face to face, in a class environment to new parents and thier babies. I created Zen Babies in 2021 and since then have created a wonderful community of businesses offering services to suport new families, creating lasting friendships the tools for families to soothe and promote their baby's development. I have brought my classes to the screen and cannot wait to share with you, whereever you are, the wonderful benefits of Baby Massage with my new online course. I am also a mum to 3 children all now in school so I can focus on developing Zen Babies.

Inside the course you’ll learn effective baby massage routines that do far more than relax your baby. Parents often find their baby becomes more settled, sleeps more peacefully and finds relief from trapped wind and constipation. Massage can help babies move their bowels more easily, reduce fussiness and create a calm daily routine. It also gives all caregivers a beautiful way to bond with the baby, building confidence and connection through gentle touch.

Frequently asked questions

At what age can I start to massage my baby?

The Baby Massage and Reflexology are suitable from birth. However I always suggest waiting until your baby around 4-6 weeks old. The NHS guidance on using oil recommends from after 4-6 weeks to protect the skin barriers.

Should I use oil? Which oil is best?

Once you've purchased your course there will be an oil advice video. In the mean time the NHS website under Baby Massage has their current guidance on suitable oils for Baby Massage. You're free to decide which one suits your baby best. Please avoid aromatherapy oils until after 6 months and then only use with advice from a qualified aromatherapist. You can also massage over your babys vest if you do not wish to use oil at first.

What if my baby doesn't like it or just cries?

This is very normal and actually expected. In your videos you'll learn more about cues and when not to massage your baby. Even following all my tips your baby can still decide they don't feel like the massage or are not enjoying it that moment and that is absolutely fine, you know your baby best and can stop, feed, cuddle, sing, play in the moment, whatever you feel is best and maybe your baby will come back to the massage after a few minutes or not at all and you can try again the next day.

When should I massage my baby?

In the videos you'll get lots of advice on how to create a relaxing atmosphere at home to enjoy the massage together. There is also lots of advice around when not to massage your baby and fitting it into your routine or just doing bits as you and your baby can.

What if I can't keep up with the video is it easy to get back to the body part I need?

Your course is split into small shorter vidoes for each body part, for example, chest and tummy, legs and feet, arms and hands, head and face and back. Also included is a longer video taking you through the full body massage in real time so you can choose to practice one body part or follow along, pausing as you need, and complete a full body massage. You may find after a few practices your baby is more tolerant and will cope better with the full body massage. There will be information on this in the course to help you build up slowly.

I've been to face to face classes is this still for me?

Absolutely and I'm pleased you've had the class experience. You'll have learnt your massage routines and probably picked out your favourites and been enjoying them at home with your baby. You can still use my course as a catch up and reminder of the strokes, routines and tips.
